The university of Nairobi Vice Chancellor Professor Stephen Kiama Gitahi,paid a courtesy call to GeospatialEngineering  students on 18th June 2023 at Kibwezi University of Nairobi dry field station.

The department of Geospatial and Space Technology always conduct this exercise ones in a year to the fourth year students before they begun their attachment.

The vice chancellor was excited to see the good progress of the camp and to hear how much the students can achieve, he charged the students to work very hard to generate the topo map of the university land to aid in better planning and assist greatly in decission making.

A number of activities are normally carried out during the Geospatial camp:

Route location survey, planmmetric mapping, Bridge deformation survey,Topographical mapping and Land use land cover mapping.

The department of Geospatial and Space Technology ,University of Nairobi emblaces the new technology of mapping.This has exposed students to the rapidly growing technologies in the field of Geospatial .Such advancement include use drones in mapping, surveyors can capture many more topographic data points, hence more accurate volume measurements,Use of GNSS application in surveying aspects to facilitate faster and accurate data processing.
