The  Act In Space 2026 International Finals, held from 31st March to 2nd April 2026 in Bordeaux, France, brought together global innovators leveraging space technologies to solve real-world challenges.

This marked a historic milestone as Kenya participated in the Act In Space International Finals for the first time, showcasing the country’s growing role in the global space innovation ecosystem.

Global Background of Act In Space

Act In Space is a global innovation program initiated in 2014, designed to promote the use of space technologies and data for solving terrestrial challenges. The program connects universities, startups, and innovators across continents, fostering collaboration between upstream (space infrastructure) and downstream (applications on Earth) solutions.

Act In Space Kenya Journey

The Act In Space Kenya chapter, aligned with the global initiative launched in 2014, engaged universities across the country through regional competitions. Participating institutions included:

  • University of Nairobi (UoN)
  • Maseno University
  • Taita Taveta University
  • Dedan Kimathi University

Winning teams from each regional chapter advanced to the national finals held at Kenya Institute Of Curriculum Development(KICD), Nairobi, where TerraSat (Brian Gillo, Henry Mwoha, Vivian M

uchire and Salome Wainaina) emerged as the overall winner. This victory secured the team’s opportunity to represent Kenya at the international finals in Bordeaux.
